BemerkungenThis is only the second time I have ever seen an actual meteorite falling, not counting “shooting stars”. I had just stepped off the walkway in front of my house into the driveway when I saw the light above out of the corner of my eye. At first, I thought it was a drone, but then I realized that it was moving too fast and the whole object was glowing. It looked like a very bright star, but it wasn’t as bright as the moon. There were some stars visible in the sky, and this was definitely brighter than Venus on a clear night. It started out glowing light blue as it passed through a layer of thin clouds, perhaps some light green, before a small portion of it lit up red and orange briefly and then it disappeared. No flash, no boom, no trail left behind. It lasted at LEAST 2 seconds, maybe 3 seconds. All I can say, is that it fell in the direction of Fairfield Airport, perhaps heading in the direction of Clinton. I think if one drew a line from my driveway towards Clinton, the trajectory would take it between Towaco and Pine Brook. It would be amazing if something came out of my observation!
